-- THE NAME -- The name BOPOMOFO (ㄅㄆㄇㄈ) is taken from the first four symbols of Zhu-yin (注音), the phonetic system used in Taiwan to learn Mandarin Chinese. For many Taiwanese people, these are the very first sounds we learn as children — a symbol of beginnings, familiarity, and home. That idea of starting from the basics and holding onto something comforting is exactly what inspires our food, from the flavours we grew up with to the dishes we love to share.
